Teng Leads Field into Day 2

London's Andrew Teng leads a field of 28 back to Binion's Gambling Hall today for the finals of the $1,000 Championships.

Teng, winner of two Grosvenor Poker Tour stops in the UK, and a 5th place in a 2011 WSOP $1k, took over the chiplead during the middle of Day 1, wrapping up the night with 333,000.

Ben Reason, runner-up in the 2013 WSOP $1k Turbo, was on Teng's left much of the night and there to start Day 2, is another of the Day 2 topstacks, with 293,000.

2014 WSOP $1k Bracelet winner Will Givens and 2015 HPT Reno Champ Steve Foutty sat across from one another through most of Day 1, creating roller-coaster chipstacks for the other. Both closed the night with right around 100,000.

The starting field of 149 built a $137,080 prize pool and $37,010 up top.

The field seemed to be in a hurry to leave late in the day, as 37 percent of the field was eliminated in the two levels right after dinner break, but the brakes went on in the final 90 minutes, with only 6 players heading to the rail.

Play resumes at 1pm today.
