Billy Cashwell ran over the $220 PLO High final table Friday here in Event 7 at the Binions Poker Classic, closing it out and taking home the $6,080 top prize.
Cashwell was crushing it all day long in this field of 109 players, had a dominant chipstack as players reached the money at 11 when they hit the final table. By the time it was 5-handed he owned 75 percent of all the chips in play. This dramatic tilting of the chipstacks caused quick eliminations of players in 3rd-5th place, and by the time Joe Saccone was heads up with Cashwell he was facing a 6-1 deficit.
Saccone, however, twice rivered a flush coming from behind while all -- once cracking Cashwell's AA -- to stave off elimination within the first 15 hands of heads up play, then caught quad kings when both players had flopped trip aces. This turnaround gave Saccone the chiplead and lead to a lot of who-leads-now for almost an hour before Cashwell regained the lead for good and ended up with the win.
Saccone, from Santa Monica, CA., earned $3,580 as runner up.
Here are the payouts for all of the final 11 players.
